Woo Woo Doll
"Curse hoo U do"
Woo Woo Dolls are inspired from Goa, India. Businesses hang them upside down, over their doorways to ward out evil intent.
Fun fact: They aren’t your typical black magic voodoo dolls you burn and stab while putting a hex on someone. They represent the many nuances of the dark world. They protect us.
In Goa, there is a large population of Portuguese. These dolls have nothing to do with India or Hindu religious beliefs. The Portuguese created them. They are most common seen as a solid black shape, with red and white tribal paint. The faces are all different. Most have their tongue sticking out. Faces to scare off the unwanted.
I brought home several with me on my most recent trip to India. I became obsessed with them, and found something extremely adorable about them. So I went to Ikea and bought tarp, started cutting it out and sewing. Then came Woo Woo Dolls.
They range in size from 18” tall to 33” tall.
